Better Messages
Better Messages chat in your own app
Your members’ Better Messages conversations as a native inbox: one-to-one and group threads with unread badges, a message that appears the moment it is sent, and nothing lost when a phone drops its signal.
Reads the Better Messages you already run. Nothing to migrate.
Free while in beta. No credit card needed.

In the app
What Better Messages becomes
Native screens, drawn by the app from your site’s data, that you place on the bottom bar, the top bar or the side drawer.
Inbox and conversations
An inbox of one-to-one and group conversations with unread badges. A message that cannot be delivered stays in the thread marked Failed to send, with Resend and Delete, so nothing the member typed is lost.
Getting started
From your site to your phone
Nothing on your Better Messages setup changes, and members sign in with the accounts they already have.
- Step 1Step 1
Install the Memberside plugin
On your WordPress site, beside Better Messages. It reads your plugins for the app and adds nothing to your pages. - Step 2Step 2
Place the screens
Start from a starting layout or drag Better Messages’s screens onto the navigation yourself, and see them in the live preview. - Step 3Step 3
Build and try it
Put the build on your own phone, then ship it from your own Apple and Google accounts.
Questions
Better Messages in the app
Group conversations. Both give members a native inbox; Better Messages adds threads with more than two people.
You can place both, but each keeps its own conversations, so a member with two chat tabs has two unrelated inboxes. Pick one unless your site runs them for different audiences.
Yes. Better Messages runs on Ultimate Member, BuddyPress and plain WordPress sites, and the app reads it the same way on each.
Often run alongside
Better Messages is a trademark of its owner. Memberside is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to its maker; the name is used only to say which plugin the app reads.
