The dashboard

Your community’s numbers, inside WordPress

Memberside → Services → Insights: a tile for each metric, a chart per day, who looked by gender, age range and country, and the most viewed posts, profiles and products.

What is counted

Every place your members look

Each metric has its own switch, and a metric whose plugin is not active stays off.

Post views and reactions

News feed posts on the Ultimate Member wall, BuddyPress and BuddyBoss activity — the site feed, profile activity, group feeds and the single post — and the reactions on them.

Profile views

Members who opened a profile, and, counted separately, members who saw it as a card in an Ultimate Member, BuddyPress or BuddyBoss member directory.

Groups, posts, jobs and products

Ultimate Member and BuddyPress / BuddyBoss group pages and the posts made inside them, WordPress posts and pages, JobBoardWP jobs, and WooCommerce products for administrators.

Video plays

Members who started a video, in the app or on the site.

Forum activity

New topics and replies in bbPress and ForumWP.

Chat response time

How quickly members answer a message in Ultimate Member Messaging, BuddyPress messages and Better Messages — the site’s median, and each member’s own.
  • Counted in your app and on your website, the same way
  • One view per member, per item, per day
  • Logged-out visitors are never counted
  • Nobody’s views of their own posts or profile count

Who sees it

A dashboard for you, a count for each member

You, in WordPress

Memberside → Services → Insights → Dashboard: totals for each metric, a chart per day, breakdowns by gender, age range, country, where members saw it and app or website, and the most viewed posts, profiles, groups, videos, jobs and products. Days follow your site’s timezone.

Each member, on their own things

An Insights link under their own feed posts, WordPress posts and jobs, “Your insights” on their own profile — profile views, how their posts did, and their reply speed against the site’s — and Group insights for groups they manage. You can switch member Insights off.

Privacy

Built to count, not to watch

Individual views are kept for about five weeks and daily totals for about two years. Tools → Erase Personal Data in WordPress removes a member’s records.

Ids, not content

Memberside stores member ids and item ids. Never the post, never an IP address, never a device.

Only the fields you map

Gender, country and age range are recorded only if you map a profile field to each. Age is stored as a range, never a birth date.

Counts, never names

Members never see who viewed them. Any group of fewer than five viewers is shown to members as “Other”; you see exact counts.

Nothing demographic is recorded until you choose the field for it

How it works

Three steps to your first numbers

  1. Step 1

    Authorize your site

In WordPress, open Memberside → Services → Insights and choose Authorize this site. You approve the domain on memberside.app and land back in WordPress connected.
  2. Step 2

    Choose what to count

Every metric your plugins support starts on. Map a profile field to gender, country and age range if you want those breakdowns, and choose which post types count.
  3. Step 3

    Read the dashboard

Views arrive as members browse — on your site straight away, in your app from its next build. The dashboard catches up within ten minutes.

Questions

Insights FAQ

It adds essentially no load. In the app, each member’s device sends its views straight to Memberside. On your website, the view is sent after the page has gone to the browser. Your WordPress database does not write a row per view.

Pro includes 1,000,000 events a calendar month with 90 days of history, and Unlimited 5,000,000 with 13 months. For more, Starter, Growth and Scale run from $9 to $79 a month, billed monthly, and any account can buy one, Free included. A tier is never sold below what your plan already includes.

One counted view, or one reaction, forum topic, reply or chat answer. Past your allowance, new events are not counted until the 1st. Your members notice nothing, the numbers you already have stay, and nothing is charged — every plan is a hard cap. Move up a tier and counting starts again.

How far back your dashboard and your members’ Insights can read. It is not how long anything is kept: daily totals are stored for about two years on every plan, so moving to a plan with longer history shows the older months straight away.

No. Every plan has every metric and every breakdown, the included ones too. There is no CSV export on any plan.

Member ids and the ids of what they viewed, and the gender, country and age range only if you map a profile field to each. Never content, IP addresses or devices, and never a birth date. Individual views are kept for about five weeks, daily totals for about two years, and chat reply samples for about thirteen months.

No. Members see counts for their own posts, profile, jobs and the groups they manage — never names. Breakdowns by gender, age range and country fold any group of fewer than five viewers into “Other” for members.

Yes. Insights adds an entry to WordPress’s own Tools → Erase Personal Data, and a paragraph to your privacy policy guide describing what is recorded.
