Video that feels native, because it is

Streams at the right quality

Every upload is converted into a ladder of qualities, up to 720p or 1080p by plan. Each member’s player picks the one their connection can carry, and changes as it does.

Members choose the thumbnail

Before posting, a member scrubs through the whole video and picks the frame that shows it best. That frame is the poster everywhere the video appears.

Nothing loads until someone taps

Feeds show the poster and a play button. Tapping starts the video with sound. Scrolling past a video downloads nothing, which saves your members’ data and your allowance.

Posts go live when they can play

A post with a video is held while it is processed, then published — and the author is told “your post is live”. Or switch on instant posting and it appears straight away. Chat messages always wait, then send.

Private stays private

Every play is checked against who is watching. A video in a private group or a direct message cannot be opened by someone outside it, and links stop working on their own.

In your app and on your site

The same upload, thumbnail picker and player work in your app and in your plugins’ own pages on the web. Where a plugin keeps its own web composer, its videos still play there — the list below says which.

How it works

Three steps, then it just works

  1. Step 1

    Connect your site

    In WordPress, open Memberside → Services → Video and choose Authorize. You approve the domain here and land back in WordPress connected.
  2. Step 2

    Choose how posts publish

    Hold until ready (the default), or post instantly and switch to streaming when it is done. Optionally remove each file from your server once it is streaming.
  3. Step 3

    Members start posting

    A Video button appears in the composers of the plugins you enabled — in your app straight away, and on your site’s own pages too.

Video FAQ

An hour of video stored, measured from the length of the videos themselves — not how many qualities we keep of each, and not the size of the file your member uploaded. Delete a post and its hours come back straight away.

You are never charged for going over. When storage is full, new video uploads pause and every video already posted keeps playing. When the month’s streaming is used up, members may be unable to start videos until the 1st, or until you choose a bigger plan, which restores playback at once. We email you at 80% so neither comes as a surprise.

Normally we store only the streaming versions of each video, which is what members watch. Keep originals also stores the file exactly as it was uploaded, so you can download it again later. It costs extra because originals are often larger than all the streaming versions put together, and it applies to videos uploaded after you switch it on.

Yes — it is an option, off by default. Once a video is streaming, the copy on your WordPress server can be removed automatically, which keeps your hosting disk small. If you later stop using Video, videos whose file was removed can only play if you kept originals.

New uploads stop at the end of the period you paid for. Videos already posted keep playing for 30 days, and we email you before anything is deleted. Choosing a plan again within those 30 days keeps everything exactly as it is.

Only the people who could already see the post or the conversation. Each play asks your site whether this member may watch it, and the link it receives stops working after a while — after an hour in a chat — so a copied link does not keep working for someone else.
