WordPress plugin
The Memberside plugin
The companion plugin a Memberside app talks to. It turns the plugins you already run into an API your app reads — and adds nothing to the site your members see.
It is not in the wordpress.org plugin directory, so searching Plugins → Add New on your site will not find it.
What it does
Three things, and no more than three
The plugin is deliberately small. It exposes data, holds your keys, and stays out of the way.
- A REST API for your app
- Endpoints under the memberside/v1 namespace that your app reads members, profiles, feeds, groups and orders from. Every group is off until you switch it on.
- A Memberside admin menu
- Four screens — Dashboard, REST API, Services and API Keys — for choosing what is exposed and holding the keys your app needs.
- Nothing on your front end unless you ask
- No pages, no blocks and no stylesheets of its own. The one exception is Video: switch it on for a plugin and that plugin’s pages get a Video button and a player, and nothing else on your site changes.
Requirements
What your site needs
These are the floors for the current release. Your account states them per version, read from the release itself.
- WordPress
- 6.2 or newer
- PHP
- 7.4 or newer
- HTTPS
- Required. Application passwords are refused over plain HTTP.
- Permalinks
- Anything other than Plain. The REST API needs pretty permalinks.
Ultimate Member is optional. The plugin runs on Ultimate Member, BuddyPress, BuddyBoss and plain WordPress sites: sign-in, posts, search, shop, forums and events work on any of them, and each community plugin adds its own profiles, members and groups.

A plugin that is not on your site stays hidden in the builder, so you never ship an empty screen.
